"That’s because he was slow. He took it like a slow and surprised champ." - the style of humor in this story fit the scene well. An irreverent, slightly snarky tone to fit a disreputable crowd. Also, brilliant nameology. "Boylewist Snearington"... Dickens would be proud.

I'm glad you liked the line - it's probably my favourite snark joke to date. I would hate to think I'm just chortling to myself over some of the things I write, so I appreciate your feedback.

And Dickens this time! You again flatter me, Sir. My thanks.

Very nice.

Why are you using Dall-E?

Nightcafe has sxd 1.0

It has a slightly better interface, but for some reason, doesn't do smiles.

Largely familiarity with Chat GPT. I got a plus account with them ages ago and when Dall-E was added to its functionality it seemed like a natural extension of its use for me.

Was working pretty well for quite a while but I’m getting pretty tired of its limitations.

Im unfamiliar with nightcafe. Ill look into it. Is that what you use?

Yes. It has limits too, but I can almost work my way around them.

If I had time, I'd do my own art, but sadly, I can't draw a straight line with piece of wood that has numbers on it.

What I appreciate about Dall-E via chatgpt is that I can tell a whole short story to ChatGPT, than ask it to illustrate specific scenes. Because it's digested the whole story, it gets specific details incorporated that would be sometimes difficult to prompt into other engines with different interfaces. That part of it is a rather nice feature.

It's lack of character continuity or ability to edit small details in photos is frustrating as heck.

I never thought I'd regret not taking more art classes in high school and university, but here we are. My long term hope is that some talented digital artist is like "cool stories, can I draw them?" but that's likely not happening any time soon. Until then, arguing with AI artbots it is!

Nice to have continuity in these last two stories. Hope Wayne lands on his feet!
